Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me and my journey as a therapist.

My interest in human behavior began at a young age, but my true passion for psychotherapy emerged through my own personal experience with depression. Coming from a family that valued hard work, sunlight, exercise, and good nutrition as the remedy for all struggles, I initially viewed therapy as an “excuse” for behavior.
Looking back, I now recognize that I experienced symptoms of depression even in my teenage years. It wasn’t until my early thirties—during my first acknowledged experience with depression and anxiety—that I began to research and truly understand the power of psychotherapy. That experience ultimately shaped my path toward becoming a therapist.

II specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples: a choice deeply connected to my own life experiences and the challenges I faced in opening up to others, especially a therapist.
After my 21-year marriage ended, my two children and I went through a significant period of transition and healing. At the time, my children were 19 and 15, and I quickly learned that emotional pain and adjustment have no age limit. Healing is not easier simply because children are older.

My personal and professional experiences have strengthened my ability to empathize and understand the complexities of family dynamics. I am committed to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate challenges, foster understanding, and work toward meaningful healing and growth.

What I Bring to Katy Counseling for Men: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
My interest in psychology began with a deep curiosity about how depression and anxiety affect the brain and behavior. This passion led me to pursue an associate’s degree in psychology from San Jacinto College. During my studies, I discovered my commitment to understanding human behavior and the factors that shape it.

While completing my bachelor’s degree, I developed a strong interest in the role of culture—beyond ethnicity, encompassing both social and environmental influences—in shaping brain development and behavior. This understanding reinforced my dedication to helping individuals explore how their upbringing, environment, and cultural experiences influence their present behaviors and emotional well-being.

I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including both childhood and adult sexual abuse. My clinical work also encompasses the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, trauma, PTSD, depression, anger, emotional dysregulation, and difficulties with motivation and procrastination.
I also offer culturally informed therapy for couples therapy and marriage counseling addressing relational challenges such as betrayal, communication difficulties, and trust repair.
